User Guide

A practical step-by-step guide for using Word Islamic Encyclopedia.

Install and choose your books

  1. Download the available package from the download page and follow its installation instructions. A version number in the knowledge file alone does not establish general release availability.
  2. Open Word Islamic Encyclopedia from Word. Encyclopedia access and other gated features depend on your edition entitlement.
  3. Use the book manager to select a book, category or encyclopedia. It shows size, author and status, and supports pause, resume, update and removal.
  4. Let installation and indexing finish before searching locally. The application does not automatically download the entire catalog.

Find and insert Quran text

  1. Choose a recitation, then a surah and verse, verse range or page range. Each recitation uses its appropriate text and font.
  2. Use Ctrl+Shift+Q for an exact match of the current word or selection. Use Ctrl+Shift+A or Esc for a partial match. These are text searches, not root searches.
  3. Set brackets, verse numbers and typography. Place the citation inline, on a new line, in a Word footnote, or omit it.
  4. Insert at the cursor or copy to the clipboard. Wait for insertion to finish before typing or changing recitation.

Translations of meaning

  1. Select one or more translations in the translation manager, arrange them and choose a default. Preview the result before insertion.
  2. Configure translation names, footnotes and manual or automatic insertion according to the available options.
  3. Translations follow the verse in a separate paragraph. Automatic attachment uses compatible Hafs numbering paths; it does not work identically for every recitation.
  4. Attribute the translator and QuranEnc source. A meaning translation is not the Arabic Quran text itself.

Read, search and cite

  1. Choose a scope and search mode: phrase, all words, any word or Arabic root. Search covers installed, indexed books.
  2. Open the result in the reader and check the surrounding passage. Title, volume and page reflect the available edition data.
  3. Use the contents tree, book tabs, favorites and notes to organize your reading.
  4. Open the encyclopedia from within Word to insert a passage into your document. Missing page details must not be guessed.

Isnad and hadith routes

  1. Isnad and route actions appear where source and edition data supports the record. Opening a location may require downloading its book first.
  2. Select a narrator to inspect available identity, biography, teachers, students and narrations. Matching a name alone does not resolve identity.
  3. Compare texts and chains in their sources. Links may be incomplete or inaccurate; they neither collect every route nor judge authenticity.

Cards and Smart Publisher

  1. Create a card from the hadith and citation. Review its title, fonts, colors and preview. Long texts may be split into numbered images.
  2. Save the complete image series in order. Platform sharing requires your review and upload; it is not unattended publishing.
  3. Connect Smart Publisher in encyclopedia settings. Sign-in opens in your browser, and submitted material enters the review queue.
  4. Sending does not publish to the public. Approve content before scheduling or publishing. Two to four images can form one review request; longer series should be saved and reviewed.

Using research assistants

  1. The Word assistant helps prepare drafts that need your review. Tools depend on mode and entitlement and may require your API key and separate charges.
  2. The Digital Fiqh Assistant is a separate experimental service for eligible subscribers, with an 80-character question limit and a server-controlled allowance.
  3. Check the source, edition and context before scholarly reliance. Answers may be wrong or incomplete; the service may abstain for lack of sources. It is not a fatwa authority.
  4. General encyclopedia-wide semantic search is unavailable in the current trial configuration. It differs from local search and the fiqh assistant.
